Amazing. I usually know when people here are talking about me. Mostly I know just if they say the word “Tay” hah

One of my students grandmothers told me that I am going to have a wonderful future because I have small, lady-like, soft hands…sometimes I love Asia.
My thoughts exactly…(although in my Canadian’s words)
In the United States they call it “The Vietnam War”, here in Vietnam, they call it “The American War”. Who won this war (if you want to be technical though it wasn’t actually a war for the United States because of a technicality with Congress)? There are still many Americans that think they won…
Sometimes I’m driving around Hanoi, noticing all the things I love about VietNam and I really wish my parents, sister and best friends could come see all this country has to offer.
My Canadian took this photo at a temple during the Mid-Autumn Festival while I was watching a traditional performance of the story of the Man in the Moon.
Mid-Autumn Festival masks. Children (and children at heart) wear them in an attempt to scare away evil spirits during the Mid-Autumn Festival. These are made of clay, and then fired in the kiln in the temple.
I don’t know if it’s because this is the time of year I arrived or what, but the smell of the air tonight is distinctly VietNam.

When I went to Saigon a few weeks ago (more to come on this trip later), I went to this Pho restaurant. Bill Clinton visited Vietnam awhile ago and ate here, giving the restaurant their fantastic tagline.

The pho itself wasn’t the best I’ve ever had…you’d think that someone would have taken him to a proper street stall with GOOD pho, but I did get a kick out of the pictures of Bill with Vietnamese officials on the walls.
